The 1,000-pound Gorilla
The 1,000-pound Gorilla
The sheer length of my to-do list (and watching last week’s rehearsal footage) reminded me of the old question, “How do you eat a 1,000-pound gorilla?” For the longest time, I thought the answer was ‘with Whataburger ketchup,’ but apparently, the answer is ‘one bite at a time.’ (good note 😉)
This is the part of the year that feels completely overwhelming to me. We have a vision, we have a plan, but it feels like we have way too much to do and not enough time to get there. The sheer volume can leave me spinning in circles instead of digging into the work.
Yes, there's still a mountain to climb. Yes, there are moments when it feels like we’ll never see the summit. Yes, every week (if not every day) will bring an unexpected surprise. Nevertheless, I’m confident we have the tools, the team, and the desire to make it happen.
We just have to take a breath and grab a fork.
It doesn’t matter that we cannot see the finish line in this moment. If we trust the process, work together, and keep taking the next bite, I believe we’ll find that maybe our eyes aren’t all that much bigger than our stomachs after all.
Pass the ketchup,
Jeff
