Yes, AND?!?!

Yes, AND?!?!

One of my favorite sarcastic responses is, “Yes. And?!?”

For example: There’s a significant amount of blood on the ground outside the office. Yes, AND?!?! (My wife says it doesn’t take much to amuse me. Not going to argue this one. 😂)

However, what seems to those around me like a lame attempt to amuse myself is actually a reminder of what matters. The ‘AND’ is the priority.

We’re constantly bombarded with challenges and struggles that stress us out and occasionally make me check my retirement account (on my phone 😉) during lunch.

BUT the priority is the ‘AND.’

Yes, this is a challenge. AND what are we going to do about it?!?

One of my favorite teachers is fond of reminding me that “everything is fixable,” even when it seems like it isn’t.

Full disclosure: I’ve amended the adage to “(almost) everything is fixable” because it aligns better with my philosophy that “Anything is possible. Some things are more probable, but anything is possible.”  😂

Both steps are critical:

  1. Acknowledge the issue - Yes. Admit that it’s frustrating. Admit that (at least for me) it can be debilitating for a few minutes. Give yourself permission to be disappointed, but remember to get to the ‘AND’!

  2. Find a solution, AND?!? Yes, this is a setback, AND now what are our options? Every challenge we face is an opportunity to stay solution-oriented, but we have to move past frustration and disappointment to find the way forward.

The next time you face a challenge, give yourself a moment to be frustrated. Then ask yourself the most important question:

Yes, AND?!?!

(Almost) EVERYTHING is fixable!!
